VitalZyme--Systemic Enzymes

Enzymes normally found in the body are needed for each of the millions of biochemical reactions in our body. Without these enzymes, human life could not exist.

Vitalzym... often copied, but never equaled. Vitalzym is one of the strongest and most recommended vegetarian systemic enzymes available today.

Why Systemic Enzymes

As you may know, enzymes normally found in the body are the essential building blocks of life. They are key to the body’s ability to properly digest and benefit from the food we eat, and they provide the energy we use for muscles, cells, nerves, tissue, bone, and glands. As such, these enzymes help the chemical reactions responsible for breathing, digestion, growth, reproduction, and most other body functions.

Dr. Max Wolf, M.D., who researched enzymes and hormones at Columbia University from the 1930's through the 1960's, determined that enzyme production diminishes in humans after age 27. While humans have historically supplemented their enzyme levels by consuming fresh, raw foods, modern preservation and preparation techniques often destroy the enzymes these foods contain. Combined, these conditions create an enzyme deficiency that causes our bodies and normal body functions to break down.

What does this mean? It means we must supplement our diets with systemic enzymes – those that offer system-wide benefits – just as we supplement the vitamins, minerals, and herbs that are essential for good health.

Definition of enzymes

Enzymes are proteins that act as catalysts, speeding the rate at which biochemical reactions proceed but not altering the direction or nature of the reactions. Enzymes are found in every cell of every living plant and animal, including humans. As biocatalysts, they either begin a reaction or cause a reaction to speed up.

The enzymatic process

Enzymes work by virtue of their shape. An enzyme molecule can be compared, in shape at least, to many short strings of pearls (amino acids) strung together. This long string folds in on itself as certain sequences of amino acids are more attracted to each other than to other sequences, thus giving the enzymes a specific shape.

At one point on the surface of this string of pearls there exists something resembling a keyhole. This is called the "active site" on the enzyme. When matched with its specific coenzyme (a vitamin, mineral, or trace element), this "lock" has the exact inverse contour of the "key" contained in the molecule of the enzyme's "substrate" (the molecule that the enzyme wants to transform into a different molecule). When the substrate appears, it inserts the "key" into the "lock." The molecular structure of the substrate is transformed into a different molecular structure and both enzyme and the newly transformed molecule are free to part.

Systemic enzyme supplementation

Systemic enzyme supplementation utilizes an abundance of enzymes to increase the total number of enzymes throughout the body to assist normal, healthy functions.*

Vitalzym Highlights

Vitalzym is natural.

It contains no animal derivatives, artificial flavors, yeast, or gluten. Vitalzym is lactose free and contains no harmful talc.

Vitalzym is produced with an enterically coated enzyme. Vitalzym’s formulation permits it to operate in an extremely wide pH range, allowing for better absorption in the stomach.*

Vitalzym uses pure enzymes rather than extracts.

Contents: Serrapeptase Also known as Serratia peptidase; a proteolytic enzyme isolated from the non-pathogenic enterobacteria Serratia E15. Serrapeptase has been shown to be one of the most popular enzymes available today. Protease Any enzyme that catalyzes the splitting of proteins into smaller peptide fractions and amino acids by a process known as proteolysis. Bromelain An enzyme found in pineapples that breaks down other proteins, such as collagen. Papain A proteolytic enzyme obtained from unripe papaya. Amylase Any of a group of proteins found in saliva and pancreatic juice and parts of plants, Amylase digests carbohydrates and helps convert starch to sugar. Lipase Lipase digests fat. It is an enzyme secreted in the digestive tract that catalyzes the breakdown of fats into individual fatty acids that can be absorbed into the bloodstream. Amla Amla is a great source of Vitamin C. Rutin One of the many existing flavonoids. Flavonoids support health by strengthening capillaries and other connective tissue.

The following ingredients make up less than 1% of our Vitalzym formula and are included in the formula for the following purposes:

Maltodextrin: used for blending and stability, prevents the enzymes from oxidizing and being rendered useless, key for consistency and quality.

Silicon Dioxide: allows the baby-powder-fine enzymes to “flow” into the capsule during the encapsulating process, keeping each capsule as consistent as possible also prevents moisture which can adversely affect the enzymes.

Magnesium Stearate: used to facilitate raw ingredient blending and aids finished capsule release from our encapsulating process, critical for quality control. Works synergistically with silicone dioxide in maintaining the quality of the mixture.

These ingredients are all used because they are non-toxic, safe and necessary to ensure the highest activity level assistance in producing consistent efficacy in each capsule. Each are only used in trace amounts as necessary.
